The photo gallery at our center in Isokolo, Limbe, holds archive photography from the German period in Cameroon: the buildings, the plantations, the port, the railways and everyday street life of that era.
Why we keep it
For language students, the gallery gives the words a place. Reading about Kolonialzeit in a textbook is one thing; standing in front of a photograph of a building you walk past in Limbe is another. For visitors and researchers, it is simply a piece of the city's record, and that history includes hard chapters worth looking at honestly.
Visiting
- Individual visitors are welcome during opening hours. Ask at reception.
- School and group visits can be booked with a guided walk-through, which we recommend for classes.
- Personal photography is fine; please ask before filming.
Combine it with the library
The German library and reading room is in the same building, so a gallery visit and some reading time work well together, especially for students preparing a presentation.
Booking
Send a WhatsApp message or use the contact form with your preferred date, group size and language (English, French or German) and we will confirm a time.
